The Meckes Research Group

A group dedicated to improving human health through the use and development of nanotechnology that allows us to study and treat human disease. We focus on using nanotechnology to understand the mechanisms of disease and develop therapeutic avenues for treatment. In particular, we utilize cell-compatible nano- and micro-fabrication techniques to study how cell architecture in combination with mechanical and chemical microenviroments trigger stem cell fate decisions for osteoarthritis treatment and prevention. We also seek to develop novel peptide-based nanotherapeutics that improve specificity and expand the therapeutic window for treatment of cancer and addiction.
